There are many conveniences that we take for granted until we need then desperately. Have you ever spilt soup or red wine on your dress at a party? Have you ever completed a delicious finger eaten meal at KFC and suddenly realized that you’d forgotten to add something crucial to your tray at the check out counter? How about that time when you bit into that tempting fruit and juice squirted out of it and ran down your chin? In all of these circumstances, a paper napkin could have and probably did save the day. Paper napkins, those snappy relatives of toilet rolls, are essentials that make our lives more manageable and organized. We use them in our kitchens, cars, offices, bedrooms, living rooms, boardrooms and bathrooms and even carry them around in our purses and handbags.  There are many different kinds of paper napkins; large kitchen rolls, small folded hankies, scented napkins in elegant boxes, serviettes and various other kinds. It’s a common practice for paper napkin manufacturers to match them with themes such as Christmas, Halloween, and Easter etc and to decorate and label them accordingly. Another trend is to have an organization’s logo or emblem branded onto the napkins. This is a common practice in the service sector and many hotels, restaurants, caterers and airlines order customized paper napkins. Paper napkins have multiple uses such as wiping the hands, mouth and face, blowing one’s nose, wiping cutlery and crockery, holding food when in doubt about the cleanliness of one’s hands, serving food in the absence of a plate and even for protecting clothes while eating. In the absence of paper napkins, sometimes individuals opt to use toilet rolls since they are made from similar materials and have similar qualities.  Paper napkins are typically made from large Jumbo paper rolls with the desired qualities and consistency. These rolls are processed into paper napkins with specific qualities. The process involves feeding in the raw materials which are then embossed, folded and cut. The end product may have two layers and some lines depending on the product specifications. Some paper napkins are scented during the production process and while most paper napkins are white, there are colored ones, again depending on the desired effect and customer specifications. Generally speaking, paper napkins are well packed and sealed and are hygienic. Paper napkins are typically sold at grocery stores and supermarkets as well as stores that sell kitchen utensils and specialty stores for caterers.
